Anne-Marie doesn’t feel pressurised to produce another hit

British singer/songwriter Anne-Marie doesn’t feel under any pressure to produce another hit single, insisting she just wants to “enjoy” the songwriting process.
The 28-year-old has a series of hits under her belt, including Ciao Adios and 2002, all of which she co-wrote and appeared on her debut album, Speak Your Mind. She’s now working hard on her followup record, but said in an interview with Star2.com she isn’t trying to predict which of the songs will turn into commercial successes.
“With the first album, I didn’t know what was a hit. So I feel like you just have to go into new music not knowing what will happen,” she mused. “Because sometimes, you think something’s a hit, and then you put it out and it doesn’t become a hit and sometimes it goes the opposite way. So you’ve just got to enjoy it and hopefully people like it too.”
As for the message of the upcoming album, Anne-Marie added: “Obviously the subjects that I’ll be talking about is very real, very honest, and very much about real life and what I’m going through and what other people are going through. I don’t think it will ever stop being that way.”
