Biography

April Bowlby was an American actress best known for her roles as the airheaded Kandi in the sitcom "Two and a Half Men" (CBS 2003-15) and the comedy-drama "Drop Dead Diva" (Lifetime 2009-14). April Michelle Bowlby was born on July 30, 1980 in Vallejo, California. Early in her childhood, she and her family moved to Manteca, California where she attended East Union High School. Bowlby showed a huge variety of interesting, studying ballet, French, and marine biology at Moorpark College. However, she decided to pursue a career in modeling and moved to Los Angeles. She stumbled upon acting during her short stint as a model and in 2004 she earned her first acting gig as an extra on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (CBS 2000-15). In the following year, she also played the dead victim in an episode of the show's sister series, "CSI: New York" (CBS 2004-2013). While the seedy world of forensic science allowed Bowlby to enter Hollywood, she made her mark in the realm of comedy. Her first big role was on the hit CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men." She played Kandi Harper, the ditzy second ex-wife of the show's main character, Alan (Jon Cryer). Bowlby's next big break occurred in 2009. The Lifetime Channel was producing a new series titled "Drop Dead Diva," a legal dramedy about a shallow aspiring model who was given a chance to redeem herself after dying in a fatal car crash. Bowlby played Stacy Barrett, the best friend of the show's main protagonist, Deb Dobkins (Brooke D'Orsay).
