Arjun Rampal in the clear over gangster meeting

Bollywood star Arjun Rampal is in the clear over his meeting with a notorious Indian gangster after explaining the incident to police. Cops contacted the actor requesting an interview after he was seen speaking with jailed Arun Gawli at a hospital in Mumbai in December (14).
Authorities feared Rampal, who is portraying Gawli in upcoming movie Daddy, had no official permission to visit the gangster-turned-politician while he was at the medical unit for a check-up.
However, after speaking to officers last week (ends08Feb15), Rampal has confirmed he is not accused of any wrongdoing.
He tells Bollywoodhungama.com, “It is a bit of an unfortunate scenario and I take responsibility for it; I honestly do… What happened was that I had gone with the producers to the JJ Hospital for a recce. There I was told that Gawli was present as well. We met for just five to 10 minutes. Due to me being a celeb, people saw me there and then it became an issue…
“The intention behind our meeting was not because I wanted to go beyond the law. He was in the passage and we happened to meet… Yes, I could have been a little more responsible… Once the issue snowballed, I spoke to the cops and explained my stance. They also told me that sometimes this kind of thing becomes tough for everyone. They understood that my intentions were not bad.
“I would have to meet Gawli in future too during the making of the film. There would be more interactions for sure. I have been told by the cops how permissions etc. need to be taken for any such meet. I would be taking care of that.”
