Biography

Having been a decorated professional dancer for several years, Ashly Costa (née DelGrosso) was one of the original dancers on the popular reality series, "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ). Born on July 9, 1982 in Denver, CO, Costa was raised in Highland, UT, where she was first introduced to dance through her mother, Kim, who co-owned the Center Stage Performing Arts Studio. As a youth, she partnered with Jonathan Gulledge, with whom she won several amateur dance titles. She was a Two-Time Champion, U.S. Youth International Ten Dance; an Amateur Ten Dance Champion; and a U.S. Youth Standard Champion. Her other early accolades included Champion, Professional Rising Star Latin at the Holiday Dance Classic, Las Vegas; Semi-Finalist at the World Professional Rising Star Latin Championships; and Finalist at the Professional Rising Star Latin - U.S. DanceSport Championships. While still single and dancing under the name DelGrosso, she was on the first three seasons of "Dancing With the Stars," partnered with celebrities Joey McIntyre, Master P and Harry Hamlin respectively. She had her best showing in season one, when Costa and McIntyre came in third overall. After marrying the show's field producer, Mike Costa, she stepped down to raise a family, giving birth to their two sons, Ammon and Enoch. Costa returned to the show in early 2010 for its 10th season, pairing with NASA legend Buzz Aldrin.
