Audioslave bandmates keep Chris Cornell’s memory alive at Prophets of Rage gig

Chris Cornell’s widow has applauded her late husband’s ex-bandmates for honouring him during a Prophets Of Rage gig in New Zealand on Tuesday (20Mar18).
Guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk formed Audioslave with the Soundgarden singer, and the trio paid tribute to Cornell, who died last May (17), during their Prophets of Rage set in Auckland.
They invited System of a Down singer Serj Tankian to join them for a performance of the Audioslave song Like a Stone, and news of the magical moment quickly got back to Vicky Cornell.
“Thank you @serjtankian @tmorello #TimmyC #BradWilk @prophetsofrage for your love – honoring and keeping @chriscornell’s memory alive,” she tweeted. “Thank you to the fans in Auckland, NZ – I know he was with you all tonight!”
It’s not the first time Tankian has saluted Chris – the rocker heaped praise on his pal for recording the soundtrack anthem for the Armenian genocide drama The Promise as Cornell was posthumously awarded the Human Rights Watch’s Promise Award late last year (17).
“We’re here tonight to honour a compassionate, just and gentle human being who I had the great pleasure to call my friend, Chris Cornell,” Tankian said. “His voice was always honest, caring and real. It’s difficult to successfully lie through art. The man himself was always honest, caring and real.”
