Avicii birthday tribute to air during Suicide Prevention Week

SiriusXM will broadcast a previously unheard Avicii set as part of a birthday tribute to the late Swedish DJ.

The 28-year-old musician – real name Tim Bergling – was found dead in Oman on April 20, 2018, with his family later confirming he had taken his own life.

Bosses at the internet radio network have now teamed up with Avicii’s parents’ Tim Bergling Foundation for the BPM Presents: Avicii Birthday Tribute for Mental Health Awareness event, which will air on SiriusXM’s BPM channel.

The special will be broadcasted next Tuesday (September 8, 2020), which would have been Avicii’s 31st birthday – with the date also falling during World Suicide Prevention Week.

According to Variety, programming on the day will include an unaired set recorded in Osaka, Japan in 2016, as well as interviews from the 2019 Avicii Tribute Concert in Stockholm, Sweden.

Avicii’s dad, Klas Bergling, will also discuss his son’s life, music, and the mission of the Foundation he established in the electronic dance music star’s name, detailing its efforts to prevent suicide and remove the stigma attached to mental illness.
