After years of wallowing in dissatisfaction with the world, you might be noticing that things are suddenly starting to align with your cherished childhood tastes. They’re making new movies out of things you used to love — G.I. Joe, Stretch Armstrong, RoboCop. The actors you once admired — Amanda Bynes and the guy from Young Hercules — are now holding fast to the spotlight. And the musicians you admired, fawned over, wrote alarmingly specific fan letters to, are finally getting the recognition they deserve: the Backstreet Boys have earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Variety reports that BSB took the 2,485th star on the Los Angeles alleyway on Monday morning. And while the 11-year-old devotee of the band still brimming wildly in your heart revels in the announcement, your present adult form… is also pretty ecstatic, yeah. Because hey, maybe you don’t like to admit it around your classic rock aficionado spouse or concert pianist sibling or that really attractive dude that just so happens to be an award-winning composer, but a few of the Backstreet Boys’ hits were actually pretty damn catchy.
So don’t feel as though you need to hide your enthusiasm. Celebrate this long-in-the-waiting moment. Congratulations to the quintet whose origins date back to 1993 Orlando. You’ve earned this… at least, as far as the impassioned fourth grader who still lives inside each of us is concerned.
