Biography

BarBara Luna is an actress who has deep roots on Broadway, but has also managed to maintain a career in film and television that's spanned over 50 years. She's acted in westerns, sci-fi shows, and on virtually everything in between. The early years of her career tended towards parts on such classic TV westerns as "Zorro," "Bonanza," and "Death Valley Days." Meanwhile, her foray into the crime-mystery genre is equally extensive, including parts on such well-known series as "Perry Mason" in 1958, "Hawaiian Eye" in 1959 to '62 (where she played Michiko), and two episodes of cop drama "Hawaii Five-O," on which she played the same character a decade apart, in 1969 and '79. When it comes to science-fiction, Trekkies may recognize Luna from the 1967 "Star Trek" episode, 'Mirror, Mirror,' where she played Marlena. Luna's other sci-fi TV appearances include "Project U.F.O" in 1978, two episodes on "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" in 1981, and, late in her career, as Alersa on another incarnation of "Star Trek," in this case "Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II," one episode in 2004 and another in 2011. Luna had recurring roles on more romantically-inclined fare too, as Cora on the hit drama "Fantasy Island" in the late '70s-early '80s, and on five episodes of the drama "Sunset Beach" in 1998. Luna is a member of The Thalians a charity organiztion based in Cedar Sinai Hospital that helps children with mental health. problems.
