Biography

Barbara Whiting, an accomplished actress, began her entertainment career when she was just 14 years old. Whiting's career beginnings included film roles in the comedy adaptation "Junior Miss" (1945) with Peggy Ann Garner, the Jeanne Crain musical "Centennial Summer" (1946) and the Peggy Ann Garner comedy "Home, Sweet Homicide" (1946). She went on to act in the Dick Haymes musical "Carnival in Costa Rica" (1947), the Stephen McNally drama "City Across the River" (1949) and the drama "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" (1951) with Susan Hayward. She also appeared in "Beware, My Lovely" (1952) with Ida Lupino, "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder" (1952) and the Esther Williams musical comedy "Dangerous When Wet" (1953). Later in her career, Whiting worked on "Dark Skies" (NBC, 1996-97). Whiting passed away in June 2004 at the age of 73.
