Biography

Over the duration of his career, Benny Goodman produced music for multiple Hollywood productions. Goodman started his acting career landing roles in such films as the musical "The Big Broadcast of 1937" (1936) with Jack Benny, "Hollywood Hotel" (1938) and the Alice Faye musical "The Gang's All Here" (1943). He also appeared in the Anne Shirley adaptation "The Powers Girl" (1943), "Sweet and Low Down" (1944) and the musical "A Song Is Born" (1948) with Danny Kaye. In the eighties, Goodman devoted his time to various credits, such as "Miss Mary" (1986) starring Julie Christie, "Power" with Richard Gere (1986), "American Lifestyles" (1987) and "Radio Days" (1987). Goodman continued to exercise his talent in the nineties and the early 2000s, taking on a mix of projects like "My Fellow Americans" (1996) starring Jack Lemmon, "The English Patient" (1996), "The Grass Harp" with Piper Laurie (1996), "Deconstructing Harry" (1997) starring Caroline Aaron and "U-571" with Matthew McConaughey (2000). Goodman also acted in "Ake Hasselgard Story."
