Bernard Butler changed his tunes after breaking leg

Rocker Bernard Butler wrote songs for his new project Trans while lying sprawled on a couch and pumped up on painkillers as he recovered from a broken leg. The former Suede star suffered the debilitating injury in 2011 and was unable to walk for six weeks, so he took the opportunity to explore new musical directions for his next batch of songs.
The British guitarist tells Uncut magazine, “I broke my leg two years ago, and I decided within days that everything I was doing was rubbish and that I needed to stop making such dull music. I bought a Stratocaster (guitar) when I was off my nut (head) on all sorts of drugs and I basically lay on the sofa for six weeks and played guitar.”
Butler’s new project, Trans, features his collaborations with fellow rocker Jackie McKeown and Everything But The Girl star Ben Watt.
