Bernard Cribbins lands lifetime achievement prize

Veteran British actor Bernard Cribbins was honoured with a lifetime achievement award by a children’s charity on Thursday (13Nov14). The TV and radio favourite was handed the J.M. Barrie Award, named after the creator of Peter Pan, by the Action For Children’s Arts (ACA) charity for his service to children’s entertainment on stage, radio and screen.
A number of the 85 year old’s former co-stars appeared during the tribute at the BBC’s London headquarters to give speeches about Cribbins, including British actors Jenny Agutter and Gary Warren, who starred alongside him in 1970 film The Railway Children.
Fellow children’s TV presenter Floella Benjamin said, “I was so inspired by his immense talent, sense of humour and professionalism. The help and advice he so generously gave me has stayed with me throughout my career. Bernard is without doubt one of our most respected and loved entertainers and he is adored by several generations. He is indeed a national treasure!”
