It was a fantastic 2016 for Solange and Beyoncé. The sisters both had chart-topping hits and albums; A Seat At The Table and Lemonade respectively. Their music spoke directly to the plight of Black Americans; specifically Black women in this country. It looks like the Knowles sisters have no plans on stopping their success in 2017 either. This morning, Solange announced her Interview Magazine cover on Instagram and she also stated that her feature interview was conducted by her big sis, Beyonce.
Solange said of choosing her sister to interview her, “I wanted you to interview me for this piece. Because the album really feels like storytelling for us all and our family and our lineage.”
In the eye-opening interview, the sisters discussed womanism, their childhood, music and the funniest text they’ve ever received from their mom, Tina Lawson.
After interviewing my mother and father for A Seat At The Table, it feels like full circle to have chosen my sister to interview me for @InterviewMag. Spoke about womanism, growing up in a hair salon, and choosing between “I could fall in love” and “No Me Queda Mas”. It is one of my favorites to date.
