Former President Bill Clinton is an extraordinarily busy man. Since his presidency ended in January of 2001, he’s spent the majority of his time doing charity through his foundation, the William J. Clinton Foundation, which works to fight important problems like poverty, climate change, education and the spread of HIV/AIDS. But Clinton’s documented efforts and goals to positively impact the world didn’t stop Dancing with the Stars producers from believing he’d be interested in participating in the dancing competition, and they even once formally offered him a spot on the show.
The news was revealed during a taping of The Rachel Ray Show when audience member apparently asked Clinton if he’d ever consider doing the show (which is only relevant because the new season of the ABC hit just premiered on Monday night), and he replied, “This is interesting — actually they contacted me once about this. And I told them I didn’t have time to train for it. You know you actually go out there and train — you really work at it.” But his next statement indicated that the idea of dancing doesn’t completely repulse him, saying “Just last night Hillary said to me, ‘You know, when I’m not Secretary of State anymore, we should go take dancing lessons.’ So we’ll start with the tango.” But it’s probably a good thing he’s not doing the show this year. After all, somebody’s gotta go on Rachel Ray.
