B-52’s plan documentary for 40th anniversary tour

Love Shack hitmakers The B-52’s are teaming up with comedian Fred Armisen to produce a documentary as they prepare to part ways following their 40th anniversary tour.
The pop veterans, led by Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson, recently announced plans to call if quits after one final run of shows across the U.K., but now they are taking the trek global, with concerts across Europe and North America.
The gigs will take place four decades after the release of The B-52’s self-titled debut album in 1979, and it appears cameras will be following the bandmates around on the road for a film executive produced by Armisen and directed by Craig Johnson.
They are also working on an official book, due for release in 2020, reports Billboard.
“Who knew that when we played our first house dance party in Athens, Georgia in 1976 that we would be still be rocking the house in 2019?” singer Kate said in a press release.
Frontman Fred added, “Woo-hoo! Europe and then all over North America! Dust off those go-go boots and shine your dancing shoes because the B-52s are coming!”
The world tour will launch at Florida’s Sunfest event on 4 May, and wrap in New York City on 24 September (19).
The B-52’s had previously joined Boy George and Culture Club and Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey for a co-headlining 40th anniversary tour of North America last year (18).
