Brett Cullen replaces Alec Baldwin as Batman’s dad in Joker

Brett Cullen has replaced Alec Baldwin as Bruce Wayne’s father in Joker.
The 30 Rock star signed on to portray Thomas Wayne in Todd Phillips’ origins film about the iconic comic book villain last month, but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.
Cullen, who played a Congressman in The Dark Knight Rises, will join Joaquin Phoenix, who will play the titular character, Robert De Niro and Deadpool 2 and Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz in the movie, which will chronicle The Joker’s rise from struggling stand-up comedian to a criminal mastermind.
News of Cullen’s casting comes days after Phillips unveiled the first image of Phoenix as Batman’s nemesis, while filming the movie in New York City on Sunday (16Sep18).
The film is scheduled to hit theatres in October, 2019.
It is not the only Joker stand-alone film in the works – Jared Leto is set to reprise the character, which he played in Suicide Squad, for a solo spin-off.
