Britney Spears’ ex-manager Sam Lutfi isn’t going away without a fight. He’s now suing the star and her parents Jamie and Lynne for defamation and breach of contract according to People.
Spears and her dad filed a restraining order against him and two others on Friday. Jamie and lawyer Andrew Wallet, who act as co-conservators for Spears, claimed the men “are now working in concert to disrupt the conservatorship with utter disregard for Ms. Spears’ health and well being.”
Now, Lutfi has filed a lawsuit alleging, “Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney’s life. This campaign also provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney’s conservator.”
The papers go on to read, “Despite seemingly accomplishing their objectives, Jamie and Lynne have nevertheless continued their smear campaign against Lutfi. Thus, having no other alternative, Lutfi brings this action to defend himself against Jamie’s and Lynne’s persistent attacks.”
One major crux in the case is Lynne’s book Through the Storm, in which she accuses Lutfi of trying to control her daughter. His lawsuit addresses the allegations, saying, “Since the publication of the book, Lutfi has been subjected to unfathomable amounts of ridicule and scorn,” and has received “numerous death threats from overzealous fans,” and he can “no longer find work as a counselor of at-risk teens.”
The lengthy finger-pointing goes on to state that Jamie burst into Spears’ house and “punched Lutfi in the chest” in January 2008 causing “injury to his nervous system and person” and “screaming that … Lutfi had made a rude comment to Lynne the night before.”
He’s also laying claim to 15 percent of Spears earnings as her manager. Lutfi says they came to an oral agreement, confirmed later by a text message Oct. 13, 2007 in which she wrote, “sam, so thats fine, i want you to be my manager, you were right its 15 percent of my money but for 4 years not 5.”
Bryan J. Freedman, Lutfi’s attorney, released a statement saying there is “overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses” proving the case and that “at the time of the trial in this action, the jury will have an opportunity to weigh the credibility of the witnesses.
