Information continues to surface about what happened between Chris Brown and his girlfriend Rihanna after they left a Pre-Grammy party Saturday night. The latest reports from People indicate Rihanna suffered injuries, on her face during the domestic abuse altercation.

“Chris knocked her around,” a source tells People. “Black eye, blood, bruises. She had to be treated by a doctor.” Police confirmed the black eye and added, “a swollen split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead.”

The unnamed source also described police photos of the star, saying, “She looked distraught and in a lot of pain. Her eyes were closed because she was looking down.”

Brown was arrested on Sunday for making “criminal threats” against Rihanna and the Los Angeles Times reports that the “Umbrella” singer is working with police in an “ongoing” investigation. Law enforcement also told the paper that the 20-year-old, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was treated at a “major medical facility” for bruises and a scratch to the face. Earlier reports from and TMZ claimed that her car was spotted at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Hospital.

Trouble started after Brown and Rihanna left the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party Saturday night. TMZ reports that the couple were arguing inside a car around 12:30 a.m. when things allegedly turned violent. Cops received a 911 call from the Hancock Park neighborhood and when they arrived they found Rihanna alone and with visible injuries. TMZ was told she identified Brown as her attacker. He turned himself in on Sunday for questioning by LAPD and posted $50,000 bail after his arrest on felony charges. Because of the ordeal both Brown and Rihanna missed the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.

According to, Brown is due in court on March 5, by which time further charges may be filed against him.

In light of the arrest, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company has suspended their advertising campaign featuring Brown. The company released a statement to MTV News saying, “Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”

The campaign started last summer with Brown promoting Doublemint gum with a reworked version of his song “Forever.” One such ad ran last night during the Grammys featuring him and girlfriend Rihanna.

In addition, the controversy has already cost Brown very high-profile appearances at this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game festivities, where he was set to introduce the players (along with Shaquille O’Neal) and play in the annual All-Star Celebrity Game, reports E! Online. The Dairy Council also pulled their Got Milk? ad featuring Brown.

“(We are) taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously,” reads the Dairy Council statement. “We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens. Mr. Brown’s ad… is scheduled to end this week.”

Rihanna will also be missing out, her rep announced, “In light of recent events,” Rihanna postponed a concert in Malaysia that was to take place on Friday (it will be rescheduled). The singer has also been forced to cancel a lavish 21st birthday party in New York City, planned for Feb. 20, according to E! Online.
