Bryshere Y. Gray cast in New Edition biopic

Empire star Bryshere Y. Gray has been cast as Michael Bivins in the New Edition biopic.
The actor joins Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Algee Smith, Keith Powers, and Woody McClain in the three-part miniseries. The stars will play Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie Devoe, and Bobby Brown, respectively.
New Edition: The Movie will air on America’s BET network and centre on the group from childhood through their rise to fame, beginning in the late 1970s. Principal photography is slated to begin next month (May16) in Los Angeles and the project will debut next year (17).
Singers Ricky, Michael, Ronnie, Ralph and Johnny will serve as co-producers, while Chris Robinson is directing. Bobby Brown is not believed to be involved in the show, but he is gearing up to release a memoir, titled Every Little Step, in June (16).
He will also sit down that same month for an interview with ABC News anchor Robin Roberts – his first following the death of his daughter Bobbi Kristina last year (Jul15).
New Edition formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978 and originally split in 1990. They have reunited on a number of occasions.
