Candace Cameron Bure staging Christian coronavirus relief gig online

Actress Candace Cameron Bure has recruited disco star Gloria Gaynor to perform remotely for a new faith-based coronavirus relief concert.

The I Will Survive hitmaker will share the virtual stage with Christian musicians Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Newsboys, Natalie Grant, Matthew West, and pop duo For King and Country on Sunday (April 19, 2020), when Fuller House star Candace will join her brother, former Growing Pains actor Kirk Cameron, to host Hope Rising.

The siblings came up with the idea after watching a number of other COVID-19 charity shows and realizing they weren’t very spiritual.

“My brother had called me after watching some of the benefit concerts that had aired a few weeks ago,” Candace told the New York Post’s Page Six. “And while… everyone was wonderful and entertaining, we felt that there was an element that was missing from all these concerts and that is the true source of hope, which is God.

“We really wanted at a time like this to offer something to everyone that was entertaining but also inspiring and giving a real source of strength and comfort and hope during this time.”

The virtual bash will benefit Samaritan’s Purse, an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization, and festivities will kick off at 8:00 pm EST on Facebook.
