Carla Bruni axes Canadian concerts

Singer Carla Bruni has cancelled a number of upcoming shows in Canada. France’s former First Lady is heading off on a North American tour this year (14), but she has now axed a pair of concerts in Canada.
Bruni, who is married to France’s former president Nicolas Sarkozy, has reportedly been advised by her doctors to perform no more than three shows a week, prompting her to lighten her tour schedule.
Richard Michaud, the promoter behind Bruni’s axed gig in Gatineau, tells the Ottawa Citizen that ticket sales were slow due to the scheduling difficulties: “We would have been sold out but by doctor’s orders she could not perform more than three shows per week.”
The cancelled gigs include the Gatineau concert at the Casino du Lac-Leamy on 23 April (14) and a show in Quebec on 21 April (14).
The former model’s agent Bertrand de Labbey confirmed the cancellations to AFP, insisting the rest of the North American tour is going ahead as planned.
