Carly Rae Jepsen and Grimes are Polaris finalists

Singers Carly Rae Jepsen and Grimes are among the stars set to compete for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize.
The musicians were among 40 artists who were named to the nominations longlist in June (16), and their respective releases, Emotion and Art Angels, have now made the cut as finalists.
Black Mountain’s IV, Basia Bulat’s Good Advice, The Dream Is Over by PUP, and Oh No from Jessy Lanza also feature in the 10 remaining contenders, as do Kaytranada (99.9%), Andy Shauf (The Party), U.S. Girls (Half Free), and White Lung (Paradise).
The winner will be unveiled during the Polaris Music Prize Gala in Toronto, Canada on 19 September (16).
Buffy Sainte-Marie’s Power in the Blood was named Canada’s Album of the Year at the 2015 ceremony, while previous honourees also include Tanya Tagaq, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Feist, and Arcade Fire.
