Casper Van Dien back in the saddle after losing beloved horse in divorce

Movie star Casper Van Dien is glad to be back on a horse for his new western, The Warrant, after losing his favourite ride in his divorce.
The Starship Troopers star had to give up Sam, a gift from his movie legend great grandfather Robert Mitchum, when he split from actress Catherine Oxenburg, and he misses saddling up.
“The Warrant is a western I shot in Georgia last year and it also stars Steve McQueen’s grandson, Steven R. McQueen,” Casper tells WENN. “They haven’t even announced it yet but it’s going to come out the end of the year.
“I play the lead bad guy and got to ride horses and shoot guns, so it was really cool. I had horses and I’m pretty darn good on them. Robert Mitchum gave me (my) first horse who was a quarter horse, named Sam… Unfortunately I lost her in the divorce.”
Ironically, Casper always seems to be riding horses named Sam: “It’s crazy but I’ve ridden horses named Sam in an episode of Outer Limits and in TV drama Sleepy Hollow, but they were boys and my Sam was a girl.”
