Chingy lost record deal over transsexual affair rumours

Rapper Chingy has blamed false rumours suggesting he dated a transsexual model for ruining his career. The Right Thurr star, who rose to fame as Ludacris’ protege in 2003, sparked speculation about his love life in 2008 after he was photographed at a gig with model/dancer Sidney Star. He denied the claims at the time and insisted he just posed for the picture because he thought Star was a fan, but now Chingy reveals the gossip damaged his reputation and subsequently cost him a record deal.

In an interview with VladTV.com, he says, “It goes to show you that that person who nobody knew had that much power to come out and say one negative thing about me and a whole mass of people just instantly took to it. And they didn’t have not one piece of evidence (sic). Not one piece – a clue, nothing. They had nothing. They just had this person’s lie… “It actually, it injured my career a little bit. I watched it happen. I lost a deal cause of that… It was said to me. ‘Cause it was so much bad publicity around it (sic)… I’ve never been through a sabotage situation like that. And it was so fabricated and false.”

Chingy did not reveal which company the lost deal was with, but he is currently working on the follow up to his 2010 album, Success & Failure, which was released on independent label Real Talk Entertainment.
