Chris Robinson attempted to form supergroup with Stone Temple Pilots brothers

Former Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson has revealed he tried to create a supergroup with members of Stone Temple Pilots.
Robinson, who famously fell out with his own bandmate brother Rich, was hoping to find success with the DeLeo siblings, Dean and Robert, after approaching them and suggesting a collaboration.
In a new interview with AOL.com, Chris admits he sat down with the DeLeos while he was trying to figure out what to do after the Black Crowes split.
“You know, we sat down and tried to write some songs and stuff and had a nice time, but nothing really came of it,” he says. “I was already pretty much on my way to… I kind of wanted to get away from the riff-rock oriented scarves and necklaces and whatever rock ‘n’ roll… and they’re great at it. And they have written some great songs.
“I was like, ‘I don’t want to scream and yell over loud guitars. I want to tell these stories and I want my singing and my poetry to have a different relevance to the music’.”
Robinson went on to create the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, while the DeLeos have been working on a STP comeback for years. They recently announced they had recruited former X Factor singer Jeff Gutt to front the band and replace Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington.
