Well, this is certainly something you don’t want to see every day, or any day for that matter. 53-year-old country singer and 6-time Grammy Award winner Randy Travis was arrested again on Tuesday evening for yet another alleged alcohol-related offense. But instead of swaying around in public (in front of a church for that matter), holding an open container like he did back in February, Travis was found by Sheriffs in the nude, People.com reports.
Travis reportedly crashed his car Tuesday night and was taken into custody just before midnight. Grayson County Texas Sherriffs responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call that reported a man was lying in the middle of the road. (That doesn’t sound safe!) When they arrived on the scene, they found a very nude Travis with a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” the Sheriff’s department said. But despite the strong smell, Travis refused to take a alcohol blood or breath test, so he was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Since Travis refused the test, law enforcement had to draw blood using a search warrant. He was then placed behind bars on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated AND a felony of retaliation (“While Travis was being transported, [he] made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement).
Travis has reportedly since been released, but he first had to post a hefty bail of $21,500. And what did that expensive bond buy him besides the right to walk out the doors of the county jail? A pair of paper pants and a matching blue paper shirt like the kind of getup that is offered to you at the doctor’s office for an exam! Classy.
As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time that Travis has had a run-in with the law over an alcohol-related occurrence. Back in February, the Ole Country Boy was charged with public intoxication after police found him chilling in front of a church, smelling of alcohol, and holding an open bottle.
Travis may be trying to prove that he is “wild and free,” but hopefully this bad behavior doesn’t last “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
