Dave Bartholomew laid to rest in New Orleans

Longtime Fats Domino collaborator Dave Bartholomew was laid to rest in New Orleans on Monday (08Jul19).
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, who co-wrote Ain’t That a Shame and produced Domino’s Blueberry Hill, was 100 years old when he passed away last month.
And on Monday, hundreds of family members, friends and fans gathered to bid him a final farewell at St Gabriel the Archangel Church. Musicians including Robin Barnes, Kermit Ruffins, Al ‘Carnival Time’ Johnson and Charles Moore also attended the funeral, many of them playing in his honour during the service, which saw a trumpet-shaped floral arrangement next to the open casket referencing Bartholomew’s musical talent.
The musician’s 14-year partnership with Domino began in 1949 when the pair co-wrote and recorded The Fat Man.
They also worked together on the hits I’m Walkin’, Valley of Tears, My Girl Josephine, and Whole Lotta Loving.
Bartholomew also penned Chuck Berry’s hit My Ding-A-Ling, classic blues track Blue Monday, and Witchcraft.
