Dave Rosser’s life celebrated with New Orleans jazz funeral

Late Afghan Whigs rocker Dave Rosser has been remembered with a traditional New Orleans, Louisiana jazz funeral.
The guitarist, 50, lost his battle with colon cancer on 27 June (17), and band frontman Greg Dulli, who is based part-time in New Orleans, decided to gather friends and fans in the city last week (ends07Jul17) to celebrate his pal’s life with a musical memorial.
He took to Twitter on Thursday (06Jul17) to share a brief video clip of the event, during which musicians performed on the streets as others held up posters bearing Rosser’s image.
Dulli simply captioned the footage, “Long live Dave Rosser.”
The stars had been longtime collaborators on Dulli’s side bands The Gutter Twins and the Twilight Singers before Rosser joined the Afghan Whigs in 2014, when the group reunited for its first album in 16 years.
Announcing the news of his death to fans online, Rosser’s surviving bandmates shared, “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration. Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.”
