Biography

David Sharpe worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Sharpe's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as "Ghost Town" (1936), "Desert Justice" (1936) and the musical comedy "Pigskin Parade" (1936) with Stuart Erwin. He also appeared in "Drums of Destiny" (1937), "The Law Commands" (1937) and the musical "Melody of the Plains" (1937) with Fred Scott. He kept working in film throughout the thirties and the forties, starring in "Wyoming Outlaw" (1939), "Three Texas Steers" (1939) and the Jack Randall western "Covered Wagon Trails" (1940). He also appeared in "Silver Stallion" (1941). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "The Wild Blue Yonder" (1951) with Wendell Corey, the Victor Mature historical love story "The Veils of Bagdad" (1953) and "Desert Legion" (1953) with Alan Ladd. He also appeared in the crime picture "Forbidden" (1953) with Tony Curtis and the dramatic adaptation "The Spiral Road" (1962) with Rock Hudson. Sharpe last acted in the Ben Kingsley biopic "Testimony" (1988).
