Wakeham began her acting career by participating in dramas like "Covergirl" (1984) and "Danger Bay" (1984) with Donnelly Rhodes. She also appeared in the TV movie "Long Time Gone" (ABC, 1985-86). She also starred in the TV movies "Northstar" (ABC, 1985-86) and "Secret Witness" (CBS, 1988-89). She also worked in television around this time, including a part on "Quantum Leap" (NBC, 1988-1993).
