Designer Fires Back at Sutherland

The fashion designer who was allegedly headbutted by actor Kiefer Sutherland at a New York party has spoken out about the incident, calling it a “vicious, violent, unprovoked” attack.

Police have launched an investigation after the 24 star was accused of assaulting Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough at a Met Costume Institute Gala after-party on Tuesday night.

Sutherland reportedly flew into a rage with McCollough after he bumped into actress Brooke Shields at SoHo nightspot SubMercer.

The actor is said to have confronted the catwalk mogul and told him to apologize to the star. He is then alleged to have headbutted McCollough, injuring his nose.

A police report was taken and the incident is under investigation, according to People.com.

And McCollough has now issued a statement insisting he did nothing to warrant the alleged assault.

A rep for the designer tells the Website, “Anyone who knows Jack McCollough knows that he would not hurt a fly. All we can say at this point is that he was the victim of a vicious, violent, unprovoked assault and that the matter is in the hands of the authorities.”

Sutherland is currently under a probation order in Los Angeles relating to his 2007 conviction for driving under the influence.

He spent 48 days in jail but could be sent back to prison if he is found to have violated the terms of his release by fighting with McCollough.
