Beyoncé‘s baby girl may only be days old, but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming a worldwide trending topic on Twitter. Once news of the famous birth broke, people from all over began to tweet about it – including some of Hollywood’s finest. Countless celebrities took to the social media site to offer up their congratulations to the first-time parents. Suffice to say, Blue Ivy’s already got a huge celeb fan base (not bad for being two days old).
However, one person in particular outwardly refused to congratulate the superstar via Twitter: Beyoncé’s former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Michelle Williams. But that’s not to say she isn’t happy for her famous pal, she would just rather do it in person…although she was a bit snippy about the whole thing. After someone berated Williams on Twitter for not writing a congratulatory tweet about Bey’s baby, the singer went on a bit of a rant on her Twitter account and responded with a message that read:
“Let’s get ONE thing straight….I do NOT have to say congrats to someone when they’re NOT on twitter…ESPECIALLY when I talk or email them all the time….or when I’ll be physically present as well. My friendship with people aren’t always for twitter display,” Williams continued. “Respect that and get a LIFE!!! Enjoy this FINE day!!! God bless!!!!”
So just to be clear: she tweeted about why she won’t tweet. Makes sense. And although I understand where she’s coming from to a point, the tone of her message was a little unnecessary. And to tell you the truth, I can’t fully agree with her logic since I know I’d be offended if my close friends didn’t write “Happy Birthday” on my Facebook wall, even if we’d already talked on the phone that day. I feel like tweeting holds the same sort of standards.
So here’s a list of celebs who actually adhered to the proper social media etiquette and offered the Carter family their congratulations:
Snooki: “Beyonce congrats on your baby gurl mama!!!! So happy for you, you deserve it sexpot.”
One Republic: “Congrats Beyonce & Sean– it would seem musical royalty has just been born.”
