Actor and comedian Dick Gautier is best remembered by television watchers for his role in the Mel Brook comedy series "Get Smart. " He started his career as a comic in nightclubs and a singer for dance orchestras. After a stint in the Navy, Gautier starred on Broadway in the musical "Bye Bye Birdie," and he guest-starred on many television shows, including the supernatural comedy "Bewitched," but his most famous role remains Hymie, a clumsy robot on the Mel Brooks/Buck Henry spy-spoof show "Get Smart," starring Don Adams and Barbara Feldon. Gautier continued to appear on television, often on game shows like "Match Game." After a leading role as Robin Hood on the short lived comedy series "When Things Were Rotten," he made a trip to the big screen in 1977 as Dr. Will in the comedy "Fun with Dick and Jane" with Jane Fonda and George Segal. Gautier has kept up his television career, making appearances on the myster series "Murder, She Wrote" and the legal drama "Matlock" in the 1980s, and he did a guest appearance on an episode of the popular FX drama "Nip/Tuck" in 2010.
