Dick Schaap was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Schaap worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Funny" (1989), "Grand Slam" and "Jim Thorpe Pro Sports Awards" (ABC, 1991-92). He also contributed to "Semi-Tough" (1977) starring Burt Reynolds, "The Joe Namath Show" and "The Sports Comedy Network" (CBS, 1989-1990). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Muhammad Ali" (1991-92), "In This Corner... Boxing's Historic Battles" (HBO, 1994-95) and "ABC's Wide World of Sports 35th Anniversary Special" (ABC, 1995-96). He also appeared in "The Journey of the African-American Athlete" (HBO, 1995-96) and "Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story" (TNT, 1996-97). He also appeared in the documentary "The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg" (2000) with Hank Greenberg. Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "NBA at 50" (1996-97), "NYTV: By the People Who Made It" (PBS, 1998-99) and "Twice Born" (NBC, 2000-01).
