Biography

Don Costello worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Early on in his acting career, Costello landed roles in various films, including the Bruce Bennett adventure "The New Adventures of Tarzan" (1935), the mystery "Another Thin Man" (1939) with William Powell and "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" (1941). He also appeared in "Sleeping West" (1941), "Johnny Eager" (1941) and the Red Skelton comedy adaptation "Whistling in the Dark" (1941). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in the crime feature "Just Off Broadway" (1942) with Lloyd Nolan, "Joe Smith, American" (1942) with Robert Young and the Stan Laurel comedy "A-Haunting We Will Go" (1942). He also appeared in the mystery "Crime Doctor" (1943) with Warner Baxter. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in the Gary Cooper comedy "Along Came Jones" (1945), "Nob Hill" (1945) with George Raft and "Marshal of Laredo" (1945). He also appeared in the mystery "The Red Dragon" (1946) with Sidney Toler and "The Blue Dahlia" (1946). Costello last acted in "The Godfather, Part III" (1990) with Al Pacino.
