Edwards laid to rest

Edwards, 61, passed away at her home in the state on Tuesday (07Dec10) following a six-year fight with the disease.

The activist and author supported her husband’s bid to become America’s second in command while undergoing cancer treatment, but the couple separated in January (10) following allegations he had an affair in 2006.

John Edwards and the pair’s three children were joined by more than 1,200 mourners at Edenton Street United Methodist Church for the funeral service on Saturday (11Dec10).

Their oldest daughter, Cate, delivered the eulogy for her mother, saying: “She has been a lighthouse to all of us. She’s always been that source of light to us. Every lesson she has taught us has become part of our ethic.”
