Elijah Wood and Aaron Paul support embattled taco stand

Comedian George Lopez spread a little festive cheer by buying meals for hundreds of fans who turned out to support North Hollywood eatery Henry’s Tacos, which has been a culinary institution for locals for 51 years.

Rising rent prices are forcing owner Janis Hood to close the business at the end of the year (12), despite efforts by celebrities like The Lord of the Rings star and Paul, who have been encouraging their Twitter.com followers to sign a petition asking Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian to recognise the fast-food joint as a Historic-Cultural Monument – and thereby save it from being shut down.

The Breaking Bad actor took to the micro-blogging site on Sunday to thank fans for turning out in force, writing, “Thank you everyone who came out to support Henry’s Tacos today. Truly amazing. So nice to see the beautiful community come together. LA”.
