Ethan Kath owes ex-bandmate Alice Glass legal fees for dismissed defamation suit

Crystal Castles rocker Ethan Kath will have to pay his former bandmate Alice Glass’ legal fees after losing his defamation case against her.
Last year (17), Glass, 29, accused her former collaborator of sexually and physically abusing her in a relationship that started when she was 15.
Kath, real name Claudio Paolo Palmieri, denied the claims and filed a defamation suit against her, but it was dismissed in February.
On Wednesday (16May18), Glass posted an official statement from her lawyer on Twitter to tell fans that the 40-year-old’s attempt to appeal the dismissal had been denied – and he now would have to pay her legal costs.
“The court denied his request to vacate the judgment that dismissed his lawsuit,” the statement read. “The judgment remains in our favor. The court also granted our request for attorney’s fees and costs.”
Before releasing an official statement on the ruling, the Canadian singer, real name Margaret Osborn, had revelled in her legal victory in an earlier post on the social media site.
She wrote, “oh and the bulls**t lawsuit by my former bandmate was once again denied in his appeal attempt today. now he owes us legal fees”.
Glass and Kath formed Crystal Castles in Toronto, Canada in 2006 and won critical acclaim two years later with their self-titled debut album. However, she quit the band in 2014 citing professional and personal reasons – and last October went public with her accusations against Kath in a lengthy online post.
In the essay published on her website, the singer recalled how she had met her bandmate when she was 15, and alleged Kath gave her drugs and alcohol and had sex with her “in an abandoned room in an apartment he managed”.
She accused him of physical, mental and sexual abuse, including rape, during their time as the Crystal Castles. Kath is currently under investigation in Canada for alleged sex crimes.
