Fans Flock to 02 on Night Jackson Was Due On Stage

Legions of Michael Jackson fans flocked to London’s 02 Arena on Monday — to hold a vigil on the night the King of Pop was due to kick off his comeback shows.

More than 600 devotees attended the venue in the British capital to remember the “Thriller” hitmaker, who died on June 25.

Jackson was preparing for his 50-date residency at the arena at the time of his passing, and would have taken to the stage on Monday for his first full concert date since the HIStory tour in 1996.

And fans at the site, who came armed with flowers and candles, even held a minute-long silence at the time he was slated to step out onto the stage.

AEG, the promoters behind Jackson’s ill-fated This Is It tour, have insisted a tribute concert will be held at the venue in the star’s memory, hinting that the singer’s 51st birthday in August could be a possible slot.
