Frank Iero axes 2016 tour dates after bus accident

Former My Chemical Romance rocker Frank Iero has scrapped the rest of his 2016 tour dates as he continues to recover from a bus crash in Australia.
The musician was forced to cancel a performance with his band Frank Iero and the Patience in Sydney on Thursday night (13Oct16) after he and members of his crew were allegedly rammed by a van while unloading equipment.
Frank was one of two people seriously injured and as a result of his hospitalisation, he has decided to pull out of all planned shows until the end of the year due to the “severity of injuries sustained in Australia”, reports Billboard.com.
The affected dates include the U.S. leg of his tour, which had been due to kick off in New Jersey on 28 October (16) and wrap in Connecticut on 27 November (16).
No further details about Iero’s injuries have been revealed, but he is still hoping to be well enough to honour his European tour schedule, which is set to begin in Belfast, Ireland on 11 February (17).
Last week (ends14Oct16), Iero took to social media to assure fans he’s OK after the crash, tweeting: “Hi friends, thanks all for the well wishes. We’re pretty banged up but miraculously alive and in stable condition. I’m still in a state of shock.”
Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way also reached out to his old bandmate to send his best wishes after hearing the “very upsetting, sad, and serious news”.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, he added, “Heartbroken. I know just as much as all of you but I hope the continued outpouring of love, well wishes, and support help.
“Make sure to hug the ones you care about. Sending all my love to Frank and the boys.”
