G-Unit rapper Kidd Kidd avoids criminal conviction in domestic dispute

50 Cent affiliate Kidd Kidd has avoided a criminal record after reaching a plea deal over an alleged attack on his ex-girlfriend last year (15).
The rapper, real name Curtis Stewart, was apprehended before a gig in New York City in July (15) after a warrant was issued for the star’s arrest following a domestic dispute in February, 2015.
Stewart, who is signed to 50’s G-Unit Records, denied choking his ex, Maurita Robinson, and fought charges of strangulation and assault.
He was able to reach a non-criminal plea deal with prosecutors after Stewart completing a batterer’s programme, but it required him to plead guilty to a reduced count of harassment in a Big Apple court this week (begs08Feb16).
“We’re glad the DA (District Attorney)’s office saw it the way we did, that this should not result in a criminal record,” Kidd Kidd’s attorney, Scott Leemon, tells the New York Daily News.
The 32-year-old previously thanked 50 Cent for lending his support after posting his $105,000 (£72,630) bail to get him out of jail following his summer arrest.
Heaping praise on his label boss in a post on Instagram, he wrote, “Every night I was in (jail) I thought about every mistake I made it only took a week to see who really cared and who was there just for the attention for they own personal gain…
