Biography

George Merritt's acting talents were showcased on the big screen many times throughout the course of his career. Merritt kickstarted his acting career in various films such as "Doctor Syn" (1937), "Young and Innocent" (1937) and the Lawrence Olivier comedy "Clouds Over Europe" (1939). He also appeared in the Margaret Lockwood drama "The Alibi" (1943), "The Green Scarf" (1954) and "Enemy From Space" (1957) with Brian Donlevy. His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the adaptation "Horror of Dracula" (1958) with Peter Cushing, the crime adaptation "Tread Softly Stranger" (1958) with Diana Dors and "The Full Treatment" (1961). He also appeared in the Richard Harris dramatic biopic "Cromwell" (1970). He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "The Persuaders!" (1971-72).
