Game of Thrones fans have been waiting on the sixth both in George R.R. Martin‘s A Song Of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter for what seems like two decades now. Though the book was rumored to be released in 2016, it obviously didn’t come to fruition. Now with the delay in the seventh season of Game of Thrones, Westeros fans are begging for just a scrap of our fantasy epic.

So when will The Winds of Winter finally hit bookshelves? George R.R, Martin just hopped on Live Journal and revealed, “Not done yet, but I’ve made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).”

That’s right ya’ll, we might possibly have The Winds of Winter in our hands before the end of the year.

At this point, HBO‘s Game of Thrones has surpassed the current timeline of the books, but we would love it if the show stays as faithful to the books as possible. What do you think? Are you convinced that GRRM will drop The Winds of Winter this year? Let us know in the comments below.
