Gilberto Santa Rosa lands Guinness World Record

Salsa legend Gilberto Santa Rosa has danced his way into the Guinness World Record books by scoring the most number ones on the U.S. Tropical Albums chart.
The Puerto Rican star’s latest project, Necesito un Bolero, topped the Billboard Tropical Albums countdown to earn him his record-breaking 12th number one.
Gilberto, known as The Gentleman of Salsa, also previously triumphed with his first hit record Perspectiva, and follow ups including Viceversa, Autentico, Directo Al Corazon, and Irrepetible.
“I am thankful and honored to have received the distinction of a Guinness World Records title,” he said in a statement. “My career has been marked by many great moments, but I never imagined to receive a recognition from this respected and prestigious organization.”
Santa Rosa was presented with his certification while performing at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (06Nov16).
Expressing his gratitude to fans, he told the crowd, “I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate with my family and everyone who has supported my career over the years, but especially with my fans – who are the ones who make the music transcend time.”
