Glee’s Cory Monteith Tells Parade Magazine About Troubled Past

cory monteithSo apparently Cory Monteith‘s life wasn’t always so Glee-ful.  The Glee heartthrob reveals in an interview with Parade magazine that by the age of 13, he was skipping school to drink and do drugs.  What the what?!?!  He admits, “I had a serious problem.”  Monteith went to rehab at the age of 19 and his family gave him the dreaded ultimatum: get your act together or we’ll turn you over to the police for theft (he had stolen money from a family member).  Finn, I didn’t know you had it in you.  Well you haven’t truly made it as a star until you’ve checked yourself into rehab, so welcome to the group!

The actor certainly seems to have managed to smarten up and turn his life around, but he doesn’t want fans to necessarily follow in his footsteps.  “I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too,” he tells the magazine.  His message to all troubled teens out there, “For those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it. If I can, anyone can.”  This has the makings of a Lifetime movie written all over it.  We love you Finn and keep up the glee – I mean good – work!
