We’ve heard the rumors, speculated if they were legit, dared to believe, and now we know the truth — Darren Criss is officially scheduled to make his Broadway debut in early 2012. Criss will replace Daniel Radcliffe as the lead in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying for a limited three week run from January 3 through January 22, 2012. Radcliffe’s final performance is scheduled to be January 1, 2012. Criss plays the adorable, lovable Blaine Anderson on Fox’s hit show Glee, so is there really doubt in anyone’s mind that he could outshine even the Boy Who Lived?
The Broadway show’s director and choreographer talked about the change saying, “Daniel gives an extraordinary performance eight times a week and we knew finding someone to fill his shoes would be nearly impossible. When we learned of Darren’s dream of performing on Broadway we knew we had found our Finch but presumed his ‘GLEE’ schedule would eliminate any chance to work with him….We are ecstatic and grateful to Ryan Murphy and his ‘GLEE’ team at 20th Century Fox TV for helping to make both Darren’s and our dream come true.” Just one more reason to love Glee and to spend money you don’t have to go to a Broadway show (you can buy people Christmas gifts next year).
Tickets for the run are already on sale.
