Gyorgy Ligeti brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. Ligeti began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like the Keir Dullea sci-fi motion picture "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968), "Die Kleine Welt" (1977) and "Winterspelt" (1977). In the eighties and the nineties, Ligeti's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like "The Shining" (1980) with Jack Nicholson, the drama "Merci, la vie" (1991) with Charlotte Gainsbourg and the dramatic adaptation "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999) with Tom Cruise. Ligeti's music was most recently featured in the Aaron Taylor-Johnson box office smash action movie "Godzilla" (2014). In the early 2000s through the 2010s, Ligeti lent his talents to projects like "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures" (Cinemax, 2000-01), the Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore smash hit "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005) and the Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo smash hit "Shutter Island" (2010). His credits also expanded to "As Above, So Below" (2014). Ligeti passed away in June 2006 at the age of 83.
