Hailey Bieber slams trolls for ‘downplaying’ husband Justin’s Lyme disease diagnosis

Hailey Bieber has slammed trolls “downplaying the severity of Lyme disease” after her husband Justin came forward with his diagnosis on Wednesday (January 8, 2020).

The Yummy star revealed in a post on Instagram that he is suffering from the tick-borne illness, which can cause rashes, extreme fatigue, headaches, and fevers, as well as mono.

While the majority of fans sent the 25-year-old singer love and well wishes, there were some who were dubious about Justin’s announcement – leading his model wife Hailey to come to his defense.

“For those who are trying to downplay the severity of Lyme disease. Please do your research and listen to the stories of people who have suffered with it for years,” Hailey tweeted. “Making fun of and belittling a disease you don’t understand is never the way, all it takes is educating yourself.”

The 23-year-old went on to thank her model friends Gigi and Bella Hadid, and their mother Yolanda, for supporting both her and Justin throughout his diagnosis. Yolanda, Bella and Anwar Hadid have all experienced Lyme disease.

“I wanna say a huge thank you to @YolandaHadid and @bellahadid and @GiGiHadid for bringing me so much clarity and information on Lyme disease and for helping answer my questions about course of action, symptoms etc. Love you 3 amazing women!” she wrote.

“Our pleasure, wishing the fastest possible recovery,” Gigi replied.

Hailey also thanked Avril Lavigne for raising awareness of Lyme disease, which the Complicated singer also suffers from.

It’s not clear how Justin contracted the disease but fans are expected to learn all about his struggles when his new documentary Seasons premieres on YouTube on January 27, 2020.
