Hair Stylist Vidal Sassoon Dies at 84

ALTHollywood hair stylist and fashion icon Vidal Sassoon died in his Los Angeles, Calif., home Wednesday. According to reports, the 84-year-old passed away after an unknown illness. He was surrounded by family members at the time of his death.

Sassoon opened his first salon in 1954 and was credited for creating the “bob” hairstyle that became wildly popular in the 1960s. A documentary about his life called Vidal Sassoon: The Movie was also released in 2010.
