Actress Heather Locklear has checked into rehab to be treated for anxiety and depression.
The 46-year-old star began to take medication for her psychological ailments following her divorce from her ex-husband, Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora, in February 2006.
And after enduring a series of personal trials this year, she has agreed to heed doctors’ orders and reevaluate her medical condition at an in-patient treatment facility.
A source tells People.com, “She wanted to feel better and get to the bottom of what was troubling her. She’s had a rough year.”
A spokesperson for the star confirms: “Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment. This is a confidential medical matter and no further statement will be released.”
The actress was targeted in a hoax emergency call made in March by a man claiming to be a doctor, who told authorities Locklear was a suicide risk.
